IN MY NAME
-John 14:13 states, … And whatsoever you shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in
the Son … What does it mean to ask for something in the NAME of Jesus? What does it mean when we say , IN THE NAME OF
JESUS? Well … The answer is in the meaning of the word “name”. The word "name" means: character or nature.
So … to ask for something in the name of Jesus, is to ask in the NATURE AND CHARACTER OF JESUS.
-What is the nature and character of Jesus? Remember … Jesus said, … for I do always those things that please
Him ( the Father, John 8:29 ) … The character and nature of Jesus is one that seeks to please the Father, to do His
will, and to be a vessel through which the Father may be glorified. Many people USE the name of Jesus, but do not ask in the
NAME ( nature ) of Jesus. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE! Remember … TO ASK IN HIS NAME, IS TO ASK IN HIS NATURE AND CHARACTER.
-As we pray in His name ( nature ), we will only pray for and ask for what will please the Father. Many people suppose
that material gain is godliness, and they are greedy of filthy lucre ( greedy for money ). As they quench their thirst for
things, they use the name of Jesus to acquire it. They are using and speaking the name of Jesus, but what they are doing is
NOT IN THE NAME ( NATURE) AND CHARACTER OF JESUS! It is in the name of SELF-PROMOTION. Remember … THE LOVE OF MONEY
IS A ROOT OF ALL EVIL ( 1st Timothy 6:10 ) …
-We must realize that the name of Jesus is NOT A MAGIC WORD TO GET THINGS, BUT THAT IT IS THE NATURE AND CHARACTER OF GOD.
This very nature is to be manifested in and through us. Let us not use the name ( nature ) of Jesus to quench our thirst for
material possessions. This will cause us to err from the faith, and to pierce ourselves through with many sorrows. But let
us grow IN THE NAME ( NATURE ) OF JESUS! This will enable the …
