KEEP YOURSELVES FROM IDOLS
According to Dr. Loyal Hurley:
-"1ST John 5:21 states, … Little children , keep yourselves ( guard against ) from idols. Amen ... The
most important thinking in the world is the thinking that men ( mankind ) do about God. True ideas of God lead to nobility
of life; false ideas of God lead to the opposite." ( The Outcome Of Infinite Grace, Dr. Loyal Hurley )
-The word "idol" speaks of false gods, or FALSE IDEAS OF THE TRUE GOD. The religions of men have created many idols ( false
ideas ) in our hearts. These idols are preconceived ideas about God that are not true. Two of the most damaging idols that
have been produced by the teachings of men are:
1. Eternal Torture
2. Annihilation
-We say that God is ALL-POWERFUL, and then turn around and deny it! As well, we say that God is ALL-LOVING, and turn around
and deny it! The two most popular thoughts about God’s dealings with the wicked, is that He will either torture them
forever, or that He will exterminate ( annihilate ) them. In neither of these two sets of beliefs could God be ALL-POWERFUL
AND ALL-LOVING! According to the teaching of eternal torture and annihilation, God either can not correct the wicked, or He
does not want to correct the wicked. EITHER WAY, YOU HAVE A LIMITED GOD!!!
-With a little bit of study, prayer, and meditation, we can see that the teachings of eternal torture and annihilation
are IDOLS that have been set up in the hearts of men by organized religion. Either God is ALL-POWERFUL, or He is not. Either
God is ALL-LOVING, or He is not. KEEP YOURSELVES FROM FALSE IDEAS OF GOD! Anything short of ALL REALMS of intelligence being
ultimately brought under the sway of the power and the love of Christ is IDOLATRY!
-GUARD AGAINST THESE FALSE IDEAS OF GOD!-
