THE LORD’S PRAYER PART 10
( Matthew 6:9-13 )
YOURS IS THE KINGDOM, AND THE POWER, AND THE GLORY
-This doxology is rooted in David’s doxology in 1st Chronicles chapter 29. 1st Chronicles
29:11,12 states, … Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty:
for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted above all. Both
riches and honor come of You, and You reign over all; and in Your hand is power and might; and in Your hand it is to make
great, and to give strength unto all … Daniel 4:34,35 states, … The Most High lives for ever, Whose dominion is
an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation. All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as
nothing: AND HE DOES ACCORDING TO HIS WILL in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and no one can stay
His hand, or say unto Him, What do You do? …
According to J. Preston Eby:
-"God is saying to us that HE IS SOVEREIGN. Another way to express that truth is: God owns the earth and everything
in it — He does what He wants to do and nobody can stop Him from doing it. In particular He is sovereign with what He
does with the earth. God does not have to ask anybody's permission to do anything He wants with any part of the earth —
and none can hinder or resist Him!" ( To Be The Lord’s Prayer, J. Preston Eby )
-This shows and tells us of the AWESOME, ALMIGHTY, AND INDISPUTABLE POWER OF GOD! He owns and controls everything!
The Kingdom is His! The glory is His! The power is His! EVERYTHING IS HIS!!! This is good news! If everything is God’s,
then we know that everything is in good hands. We know that everything will eventually be subdued unto Him. The final outcome
is not left up to man, but to our GREAT GOD! Aren’t you glad that the Kingdom, power, and glory are His?
-The words "for ever" at the end of this prayer come from the Greek word "aion", which means an age. In this
case it should read: … to the ages … We can now see that the Kingdom, power, and glory belong to God for all the
ages of time, and that this is to take place until God shall be ALL IN ALL! To this our response should be a resounding AMEN!
The word "amen" means: it is so! … so let it be!
-LET IT BE THAT THE KINGDOM, AND THE POWER, AND THE GLORY BELONG UNTO OUR FATHER THROUGHOUT ALL AGES OF TIME,
UNTO THE AGE, EVEN UNTO THE AGE OF THE AGES!
