WHAT GOD HATES
-Proverbs 6:16-19 states, … These six things does the Lord hate: seven are an abomination unto Him: A
proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift
in running to mischief, A false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among the brethren … Yes …
There are things that God does hate, and these are among the top of the list. Let us draw our attention to one in particular
… A PROUD LOOK.
-Psalm 18:27 states, … For you will save the afflicted people; but will bring down high looks …
Psalm 101:5 states, … Whoever slanders his neighbor, him will I cut off: he that has a high look and a proud heart will

-A proud look obviously speaks of PRIDE in one’s heart and life. Is that what God hates? YES! Among the
things that God hates, PRIDE TOPS THE LIST! You would think that there are many other things that would top the list other
than pride, but that is not the case. Remember … Jesus had no harsh things to say to notorious sinners, harlots, thieves,
murderers, and such like. His harsh words were to the RELIGIOUS LEADERS of the day. The religious leaders ( the Pharisees,
Sadducees, and scribes ) were those whose hearts were full of pride and self-righteousness. The word "proud" in Proverbs 6:17
means: to rise, rise up, be high, lofty, exalted, and to be lifted up. This is what God hates. HE HATES PRIDE! Pride screams
of … ME, MYSELF, I, GIVE TO ME, AREN’T I SOMETHING, ME, ME, ME! Are you sick yet? GOD IS!
Read Luke 18:9-14 to see what Jesus had to say about a proud look. In verse 14 it states, … for everyone that exalts
himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted …
-Let us strive for the opposite of a proud look. Our trust in self-righteousness ( self ) is what STINKS to
the world and God.
