THE AFFLICTIONS OF THE RIGHTEOUS
( PSALM 34 )
-Psalm 34:19 states, … Many are the afflictions of the righteous: But the Lord delivers him out of them all …
Not only do the righteous have afflictions, but they are many. The English word "afflictions" comes from the Hebrew word “Ra”,
which means: misfortune, adversity, calamity, and sadness. Why afflictions? Why many? Why the righteous? The key is to be
found in Psalm 119:71, which states, … It is good for me that I have been AFFLICTED; that I might LEARN
YOUR STATUTES …
-We can now see that we are going through afflictions, fiery trials, tribulations, judgments, and chastisements, that we
might LEARN the ways of our Father! How else could we learn to:
-BLESS THE LORD AT ALL TIMES …
-MAKE OUR BOAST IN THE LORD …
-EXALT HIS NAME …
-SEEK THE LORD …
-CRY UNTO THE LORD …
-SEE THAT THE LORD IS GOOD …
-FEAR ( REVERENCE ) THE LORD …
-HAVE NO WANT OF ANY GOOD THING …
-KEEP OUR TONGUE FROM EVIL …
-DEPART FROM EVIL, DO GOOD, AND SEEK PEACE …
-Our Father is bringing us through many afflictions to break us of our ways ( self and sin ), and to crush the spirit of
antichrist that is within us. Remember … The Lord is near to them that are of a broken heart, and saves such as be of
a contrite spirit ( the crushed in spirit ) … God is crushing the carnality in us through many afflictions. This is
all done for our benefit, and that we might LEARN!
-Remember … The apostle Paul told us to glory in our tribulations … As well, the apostle Peter told us to THINK
IT NOT STRANGE CONCERNING OUR FIERY TRIALS … We must grow in maturity to be able to recognize the PROCESS OF GOD’S
DEALINGS with us and within us. He is bringing us through HIS CONSUMING FIRE! This is the very reason that … Many are
the afflictions of the righteous …
