THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT PART 8

BLESSED ARE THE MERCIFUL

-Matthew 5:7 states, … Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy … The word "merciful" means: compassionate, one who is tenderly compassionate, and one who grieves within for the condition and need of another.

-This attribute is the result of the indwelling of God within. Those who understand and have experienced the mercy of God will be merciful to others. Mercy is not just a feeling of pity, but it is expressed in ACTION that goes far beyond just mere words! It causes a person to act on behalf of another to restore them, help them, save them, deliver them, forgive them, heal them, and bless them.

-We must first recognize that our Father is merciful. Many people do not see God as merciful. They see Him as vindictive, spiteful, and hungry for revenge. THAT IS VERY SAD, ISN’T IT? The majority of what is preached in the realm of Evangelical Christianity is a gospel of NO MERCY. They preach a God Who will torture and torment most of humanity forever, and even say that He will be glorified in doing it. That, my friend, is SICK! THAT IS NOT MERCY! YES … There will be judgment for the purpose of correction, BUT MERCY WILL TRIUMPH OVER JUDGMENT!

-Ephesians 2:4 states, … BUT GOD, WHO IS RICH IN MERCY, FOR HIS GREAT LOVE WHEREWITH HE LOVED US, … What a merciful and loving Father! Don’t you want to be like your Father? Our merciful and loving Father LOOKED BEYOND OUR FAULTS AND SAW OUR NEED FOR A SAVIOR!!! THAT IS MERCY! Come and dine at the Father’s table today! PARTAKE OF HIS GREAT LOVE AND MERCY!
