THE FAITH
-2ND Corinthians 13:5 states, … Examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith; … Notice what is
being said here. We are to examine ( try ) whether or not we are IN THE FAITH! It does not say, examine yourselves whether
or not you have faith, but rather, examine yourselves whether you be IN THE FAITH! So … What is THE FAITH?
-The words “THE FAITH” speak of faith in a specific person, and a specific work. The person and the work are:
The Lord Jesus Christ, His cross, and His resurrection. We must then come to the conclusion that, THE FAITH is … Jesus
Christ as the crucified and risen Lord! It is not faith to get things, but faith in Jesus Christ as the crucified and risen
Lord of all!
-The majority of preaching on faith, is a faith to get material things, rather than faith in the person and work of the
Lord Jesus Christ. The word "faith" in 2nd Corinthians 13:5 means and refers to the doctrine of faith, or of the
gospel promising justification and salvation in Christ.
-So … If THE FAITH refers to the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we are to examine ourselves whether
we are in THE FAITH, then we are to examine ourselves to see whether or not we are IN CHRIST ( Who He is, and what He has
accomplished ). Sound familiar? Galatians 2:20 states, … I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I,
but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by THE FAITH of the Son of God, Who loved me, and
gave Himself for me … -WOW!-
