AWAKE
-1ST Corinthians 15:34 states, … Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge
of God: I speak this to your shame … What an interesting choice of words. This is what must take place in your heart
and life. It needs to continually take place. As we can clearly see, MAN MUST BE AWAKENED! Awakened to what?
-God awakens us to:
1. WHO HE IS
2. WHAT HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED
-The word "awake" in this passage means: to return to sobriety of mind. Notice that this passage does not say, be righteous,
but rather, AWAKE to righteousness. Whose righteousness? GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS!
-2ND Corinthians 5:18-21 states, … All things are of God, Who has ( past tense ) reconciled us to Himself
by Jesus Christ, and has ( past tense ) given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was ( past tense ) in
Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them, and has ( past tense ) committed unto
us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ( already to be taking place ) ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech
you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be reconciled to God. For He has ( past tense ) made Him to be sin for us,
Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him …
-So … Who is God? THE SAVIOR! What has He accomplished? HE HAS RECONCILED US! Now … Let us awaken to His salvation,
for we have already been reconciled, and we are now called to be reconcilers. We have been justified by faith, and are now
to enter into His sanctification PROCESS, which is: THAT WE MIGHT BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM.
-We have been justified ( declared righteous ) by faith, and we are now being sanctified ( made righteous ) by faith. We
have been, and are being, AWAKENED to God’s righteousness by the SOVEREIGN DRAWING ( DRAGGING ) of the Spirit of the
living God.
-AWAKEN US, O MIGHTY GOD!-
