OVERCOMERS
-He that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; To him that overcomes will I …
This statement is made several times in the book of Revelation. It can be found at: Revelation 2:7, 2:11, 2:17, 2:26, 3:5,
3:12, 3:21, and also in chapters 11, 12, 13, 17, 21. Obviously God wants us to be overcomers. The promises in the book of
Revelation are made to the overcomers only. Don’t you think that we should look into this overcomer thing?
-Here is a series of scriptures that will shed some light on the idea of overcoming. Colossians 1:16 tells us that Jesus
Christ created all things, including thrones, dominions, principalities, and powers. Colossians 2:14 tells us that Jesus blotted
out the handwriting of ordinances ( the law ) that was against us, … nailing it to His cross; HAVING SPOILED PRINCIPALITIES
AND POWERS, HE MADE A SHOW OF THEM OPENLY, TRIUMPHING OVER THEM IN IT. Ephesians 6:12 tells us that we wrestle not against
flesh and blood, but against PRINCIPALITIES, AGAINST POWERS, AGAINST THE RULERS OF THE DARKNESS OF THIS WORLD, AGAINST SPIRITUAL
WICKEDNESS IN HIGH PLACES …
-I thought that Jesus defeated principalities ( rulers ) and powers ( authorities )? HE DID! NOW IT IS YOUR TURN! Jesus
created all things, overcame all things, and then left all things for us to have to overcome. How could we be overcomers if
there was nothing to overcome?
-This is the reason for God creating good and evil and subjecting the creation to it. This was done that we might learn
to be overcomers. We must understand that overcoming is not an activity. It is a position ( spiritually speaking ). THIS POSITION
IS IN CHRIST! The next logical question would be … where is Christ? For we must see that we are positioned in Who Christ
is and what He has accomplished. Ephesians 1:20,21 says that … the Christ is in heavenly places, far above all principality,
and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named. Ephesians 2:6 says that … God has raised us up together,
and MADE US SIT TOGETHER IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS …
-This heavenly place is not a physical location, but a place in the Spirit that gives us a heavenly mind, WHICH ENABLES
US TO OVERCOME. How do we get to this place? SIMPLY BELIEVE! Believe what? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. That is what
makes you a believer and an overcomer. Believe what the Bible says about you. You are dead to the old man and alive to the
new creation man by FAITH IN CHRIST. This is the victory that OVERCOMES THE WORLD, EVEN OUR FAITH. WHO IS HE THAT OVERCOMES
THE WORLD, BUT HE THAT BELIEVES THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD ( 1ST John 5:4,5 )? ... Without faith it is impossible
to please God ( Hebrews 11:6 ) ... YOU ARE IN CHRIST! BELIEVE IT! YOU ARE AN OVERCOMER!
-BELIEVE, RECEIVE, AND WALK IT!-
